Phillip Hughes life was cut too short. Although I didn’t know Phillip personally I think many would agree he got more out of life then most people ever do. To Live is the rarest thing in the world, most people exist that is all.
You see anyone can exist, but living is about more than just existing.
Phillip Hughes was not a shadow of who he could become. On January 11 2013 Phillip Hughes become the first Australian batsman in the history of ODI cricket to score a century on debut, he was also the youngest cricketer ever to score back-to-back centuries in a test match. Phillip has already left his mark on the record books in history and I am sure he has left an even bigger mark in the hearts of those he has left behind.
In a few days time people will be gathering to remember Phillip, they will be telling stories about the person he become, they will be celebrating his life, they will also be grieving that life is never long enough when you are truly living it.
So the question I have for you, if this was your funeral what would you want people saying about you?
What would you want your partner to be saying about you?
What would you want your children to say about you?
What would you want your friends to say about you?
If you were in a position to record a message beforehand to be played for your family and friends at your funeral what would you want to say to them?
What impact would you want to have left on the world?
The good news is that if you are not yet living you can change that in an instant.
You can change that with a decision to Live, to Live your life on purpose.
To truly design the life that you wish to have and start working your way towards it.
You have the opportunity to create the stories you would like told about you.
Have you ever purchased a new car or made a decision to buy a new car. Now I am not talking brand new just new to you. Before you made a conscious decision to buy, you never really noticed that car before, but as soon as you buy you see that car everywhere.
You see the subconscious mind blocks out so many things. We get so much information coming to us that our mind needs to block it out. It filters all the information we receive to only let in what is important.
Now how do we tell our mind that it is important. We have to focus on it. The great thing is whatever you focus on expands. So why not focus on wealth, fun, friends, being a happy healthy person.
If you design your life (write it down) and continually revisit it your mind will be continually working in the background to work out how do I achieve it.
So getting back to your funeral.
So if your at your funeral and you had the opportunity to prepare a presentation on the story of your life how would it go?
Who did you become?
What mark have you left on the world?
What would your partner be saying about you?
What are the memories of those you left behind?
To live an extraordinary life you need to become the best person you can be.
I challenge you all to become the best you. To create your own story, and if I am one of your friends at your funeral, I want to be talking about the real you. Not a shadow of the person who you may have been, if only you had made the decision to design your ideal life.
